Construction Keeps Pace With Demand

Keeping the lights on

Ever since 1936 when Georgia established its first electric cooperative, communities across the state have expanded electric systems to meet local needs. As the state continues to grow, Georgia Transmission Corporation invests about $100 million annually to build transmission facilities. These construction projects are undertaken to either improve capacity for an EMC's system or a regional need. Georgia Transmission is proud of its track record of working openly with elected officials, communities and the media in the building of new transmission facilities. Georgia Transmission has worked voluntarily with communities and elected officials for years. In fact, more than 96 percent of easements and land rights are achieved through mutual agreements with landowners.
