Civic Outreach

When your CEO lugs a junked tire up a riverbank and your vice president of planning cleans out a culvert most the day, your company gives new meaning to the term community outreach. From interns to officers, our people demonstrate their compassion in many ways. Here are a few:

Hands On Atlanta

  • Hands On Atlanta Russ Carrying Trash 0334We participate annually in community cleanup projects organized by Hands On Atlanta, benefiting Rivers Alive. At our first cleanup, we teamed with employees from other statewide electric co-ops to collect more than 2,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from a creek in Decatur. The haul included 480 plastic bottles, 17 tires, 31 toys and 5 blankets/sheets and one manhole cover.

City Challenge

  • Civic Outreach Associates ExercisingWe’re literally throwing ourselves into a competition with other Atlanta businesses, with nearly half our employees participating in an intense fitness competition called the Atlanta City Challenge. Teams issue challenges, a leader board tracks points and pre- and post-challenge measurements test flexibility, endurance, body fat and so on. It’s all about health and wellbeing. And winning.

Charities

  • Civic Outreach United Way Check 2006Our employees team with hundreds from other statewide co-ops in Tucker to earn awards as outstanding contributors to the Red Cross blood drives, the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, the United Way, March of Dimes and other charities. We even join forces with our sister companies to host electronics recycling, environmental vendor exhibits and other Earth Day events.
